Love and Other Drugs

This is my first blog and I am using my review of the movie Love and Other Drugs as the test case.

I have to say I was expecting a good film with this cast. I wasn’t sure what kind of genre this film was in but thought it was worth a look. I was very dissappointed with this movie. I don’t usually have an urge to walk out on a film but this one made me consider the move a number of times throughout.

All I can say is if you are of the age and comedic mindset, where simple boob and swear jokes make you laugh then this film is for you. The film had a good idea to explore, the right actors and even some good cynical drug company issues, but unfortunately it didn’t have the script to bring it to fruition. They even had the supporting cast from the TV show Huff which was an amazing show.

They tried to make a Sweet November remake without the direction and script. The humour was simple and crude without any context. The handling of the subject matter and drug issues were totally unbelievable. Other reviews I have read say that the lack of sensitivity is what makes the film good but they are obviously the people that laugh at boob and swear jokes.

The acting wasn’t too bad considering what they had to work with and potentially the chemistry could have worked, perhaps in another project, what a shame.

Give this film a miss.
